Kartepe, formerly called Keltepe (Bald Hill), is located in the southeast of the Kocaeli-İzmit Province. The Kartepe Ski Center was built on Mount Kartepe at an altitude of 1,650 m. Kartepe is covered by hazelnut, oak and chestnut forests, with villages nestled between the orchards on the slope. The easiest access to Kartepe Ski Center is from Maşukiye. Kartepe is the closest ski resort to Istanbul and in recent years the ski resort has grown in popularity.

The Kartepe Ski Center has 4 lifts, 3 chair lifts and 1 teleski. The length of the tracks varies between 400 m and 3,500 m and the season lasts from late December to late February. Under normal conditions, the snow depth varies between 80 and 200 cm.
The ski center is 15 km from Maşukiye and 25 km from İzmit. The drive from Istanbul to Kartepe takes 1 hour and 15 minutes and from Bursa 2 hours.
You can rent ski equipment and there are ski instructors available. Kartepe also offers summer activities like ATV tours, ziplining, mountain biking, paintball, horse riding and safari tours. The oxygen here is the perfect escape from the city!
