Erciyes Kayseri

Erciyes Kayseri

The Erciyes Ski Center is located on Mount Erciyes (3,916 m), the highest peak in Anatolia in the southern province of Erciyes. The Erciyes is a young extinct volcano that presents visitors with several visible volcanic cones. The higher points of Mount Erciyes are covered in snow year round, while there is an iceberg on its north side. A crater was formed by external influences and several steep hills appeared. At the top of Mount Erciyes, between the rock pillars, there is a cave that was used by Byzantine monks for religious ceremonies. There is a 700 meter high mountain glacier on the northern slope, and a winter sports center on the Tekir plateau on the eastern slope at an altitude of 2,100 to 2,900 meters. The hike from the ski lift to the Cobaninine campsite takes about 2.5-3 hours in winter. The climb from Cobaninine to Mola Tasi on the upper reaches of Şeytan Creek (Devil’s Creek) takes an hour, and cross-country ski climbing is popular. From here it takes about 2-3 hours to reach the summit of the smaller peak. In winter there is a risk of avalanches on Şeytan Creek and in spring (May – June) a helmet must be worn because of the falling stones.

Due to its geographical location, Erciyes is the most central ski area in the world: a third of the world can be reached with a 4-hour flight. There are 15 scheduled flights from Istanbul to Kayseri every day. The one-hour flight route between Erciyes and Istanbul makes the Erciyes ski area attractive for both local and foreign tourists. Erciyes Ski Resort is just 25 minutes from Kayseri Airport, 20 minutes from Kayseri city center and 60 minutes from Cappadocia. The city center of Kayseri and Erciyes are connected by a two-line motorway. The ski area has double detachable high-speed chairlifts with a carriage capacity of 26,750 people per hour, equipped with the latest technology in accordance with international standards. While sitting on the chairlifts, you will have the opportunity to experience incredible panoramas and observe the endemic plants of Mount Erciyes. At the gates of Hacılar Kapı and Tekir Kapı, a comfortable journey on the gondolas awaits you and your family, and hot drinks will revive you at the local facilities.

Erciyes offers an escape from city life and an opportunity to have some quality time with your family. You can stay in the hotels on Mount Erciyes and experience the warm ambience and fresh air of the mountain, or you prefer the global luxury hotel chains in Kayseri. Hotels on Mount Erciyes offer luxury accommodations with a mountain concept design, while staying at international branded hotels in Kayseri offers the opportunity to stay in town with the benefit of transportation and daily visits to Mount Erciyes for skiing. Shopping in Kayseri, exploring the city’s history and experiencing the delicious local dishes are some of the reasons that make accommodation in the city center attractive.
